What is RAINN?

RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network) is the nation’s largest anti-sexual violence organization.

RAINN created and operates the National Sexual Assault Hotline (800.656.HOPE, online.rainn.org y rainn.org/es) in partnership with more than 1,000 local sexual assault service providers across the country and operates the DoD Safe Helpline for the Department of Defense. RAINN also carries out programs to prevent sexual violence, help survivors, and ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice.

Our Partnership

In recognition of this issue in our society, Chi Phi enthusiastically supports RAINN as a philanthropic partner.

In addition to initiatives and events on the national level, Chapters across the country will have opportunities to fundraise, take part in awareness campaigns, and host and attend educational programs.

Watch RAINN’s introduction video on why they stand with survivors of sexual violence and help bring perpetrators to justice.

Why RAINN?

Sexual violence affects everyone. Every 73 seconds, an American is Sexually Assaulted. Men and our own Brothers are not immune: Male college-aged students (18-24) are 78% more likely than non-students of the same age to be a victim of rape or sexual assault.

In recognition of this issue in our society, Chi Phi enthusiastically adopted RAINN as a philanthropy partner in 2012. Since then, Chapters across the country have held fundraisers, taken part in awareness campaigns, and hosted and attended educational programs on their campus. Even when RAINN does not have a local presence, our Chapters have sought out and supported partner organizations operating in their community.

Even though sexual assaults has fallen by more than half since 1993 – thanks in part to RAINN – plenty of work remains. Still, only 5 out of 1,000 rapists will end up in prison. Our Brothers can take an active role in their campus community today by embracing RAINN’s mission and taking up programs to raise awareness. It’s time to Get Loud.
