Did you know that a simple cheek swab can help save a life?

Thousands of patients with blood cancers like leukemia and lymphoma, sickle cell anemia or other life-threatening diseases depend on the Be The Match Registry to find a match to save their life.

Patients like Chris Leahy, Gamma 2002, need donors who are a genetic match. Even with a registry of millions, many patients cannot find a match. A simple cheek swab can help determine your compatibility with Brother Leahy and thousands of others like him who are waiting for a blood marrow donor.

To learn more, visit Be The Match Registry’s FAQ page here. To register in honor of Brother Leahy, visit By using this link, your willingness to donate will be extended to other patients whose doctors are checking the Registry daily; however, if you wish to be tested only as a potential match for Brother Leahy, you may have your testing done privately.

The Delta Pi Chapter was present this April during a ceremony honoring their late longtime Faculty Advisor and Special Initiate, Dr. Bill Wysochansky. A professor of chemistry for nearly thirty years and dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, Brother Wysochansky retired from GSW in 2006.

The University’s Analytical Chemistry Laboratory inside the Joseph C. Roney Building now memorializes our Brother and outstanding scholar who was instrumental in advising the Delta Pi Chapter in its early years.

In addition, Georgia Southwestern and the Wysochansky family have also created an endowed scholarship to benefit students pursuing degrees in chemistry or nursing.

Brother Wysochansky was also an advisor to the Eta Alpha Chapter of the Zeta Tau Alpha Fraternity.
