Fraternity Statement on Commitment to Diversity and Justice

Recent events have been emotional for many Americans, our Brothers and Friends, and especially the Black community. As we continue to stand by our Values of Truth, Honor, and Personal Integrity, we must also remind ourselves that these Values mean we stand against all forms of discrimination and hatred. 

The Chi Phi Fraternity is proud of the diversity represented in our Brotherhood and stands by our Values as this country continues to push for change.

Updates on the 155th Chi Phi Congress

It is with regret that we inform you that the 155th Chi Phi Congress has been canceled. This decision was not made lightly, but with the ongoing worldwide pandemic the Grand Council unanimously chose to put the health and safety of our Brothers and guests first.

As noted in previous messages, the Grand Council and National Office have been closely monitoring the spread of the virus and we have previously canceled other summer programs. The impact that this global situation continues to have on our day to day lives cannot be understated.

Former Grand Eta George MacDonald Enters Chapter Eternal

It saddens us to announce the passing of former Grand Eta and truly great Chi Phi, George MacDonald, Kappa Delta 1971, Iota Zeta 1989, Eta Theta 2011.

Brother MacDonald entered Chapter Eternal peacefully in hospice care this morning after a long and valiant battle with cancer. Known for his passion for Chi Phi and unparalleled drive to see our Brothers succeed, he will perhaps be remembered best as “The Grand Reveler.”

Statement on the Phi Delta Chapter and Ace Miller Boxing Tournament

Recently, an announcement was made by our Phi Delta Chapter at University of Tennessee-Knoxville that members participated in the Ace Miller Boxing Tournament in the name of Tanner Wray, Phi Delta 2019, who tragically passed away during the tournament in 2018.

The Chi Phi Fraternity does not endorse the Chapter’s participation in the Tournament.

We offer our sincerest apologies to the Wray family for any distress caused by our members’ announcement. Chi Phi will continue to address the matter with our local Chapter.

UC San Diego Colony Votes to Cease Operations

The UCSD Colony at University of California San Diego has informed the National Office and Grand Council of a motion proposed during a meeting on Tuesday, October 2, which resulted in a vote without opposition to suspend Colony operations indefinitely. The vote was held as a result of low membership in the Colony.

As of today, October 3, Chi Phi no longer has an active presence on the campus of UCSD. All Initiate members of the Colony have been moved to Alumni status and are entitled to all the rights and privileges accorded to all members.
