Regional Leadership Alliance

What are RLAs?

Regional Leadership Alliances (RLA) are single full-day experiences of educational programming available to ANY undergraduate or Alumni member. RLA offers different tracks of learning for specific roles in Chi Phi: Officer education, general member development opportunities, and Chapter Advisor education and development.

Throughout the one-day training, Brothers will gain a better understanding of the expectations, duties, and responsibilities of their Executive Council role, identify national resources who can assist in effectively managing their Chapter, and practice using information about their position in scenarios. Additionally, upon conclusion of the RLA program all Chapters will participate in a Strategic Planning meeting where they will establish specific goals for the upcoming year.

Attending a Chi Phi Regional Leadership Alliance is a great opportunity to maximize ones Chi Phi experience. Over the years, the RLA program has been one of Chi Phi’s most successful educational programs; allowing many members to attend a Chi Phi national program at some point during their undergraduate experience.

Chapter Officer Information

This training takes place in 2 Parts. The first is on your own completing an online course for the specific role. This can be accessed through Chi Phi University under Officer Training. The second part of RLA will be live, either in-person or via Zoom.

Each Chapter should ensure that their Officers participate in the appropriate RLA Officer Track. Alphas and Etas are expected to complete the Risk Management Course in addition to their Officer Track. All online courses can be found at chiphi.org/chi-phi-university. Other members are welcome to take part in these sessions to enhance their own understanding of Chi Phi.

If your Chapter has any questions about the program, or suggestions of what tracks to include in the future, please contact the National Office at chapterservices@chiphi.org.

Funding Information for RLA

Outside of travel accommodations, there is no cost for members to take part in an RLA. This program is generously funded every year through a grant from the Chi Phi Educational Trust.

In years past, many Chapters have utilized money from their Chapter Excellence Fund (CEF) to travel to RLAs. These funds, held by the Educational Trust and financed by our Alumni, are available for other academic purposes, including Chapter-specific scholarship programs and local educational programs. Contact the Educational Trust via email at EducationalTrust@chiphi.org to learn more about your CEF.
